British Artist - Ross McCormick

A Coventry-born and based artist with Anglo-Irish heritage, Ross’s practice explores the intersections of climate change, sculpture, and labor, examining how industrial economies shape both environmental degradation and social identity.

Rooted in his working-class, industrial background, Ross employs a deconstructivist approach to interrogate the tensions between production, consumption, and ecological crisis. Through sculptural interventions and social realist narratives, he reimagines the afterlives of industrial materials, particularly salvaged automotive objects, to critique extractivist economies and explore the spiritual and material consequences of climate change.

His work engages with themes of ‘Rights to Protest,’ ‘Normative Masculinity,’ ‘Immaterial Labour,’ and ‘Imperialism,’ reframing discarded materials as active sites of resistance and transformation. By repurposing industrial debris, Ross challenges dominant narratives of progress, advocating for sustainable artistic practices that reconnect material culture with ecological consciousness.

He holds an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts (2018) and a BA in Furniture & Product Design from Nottingham Trent University (2011).
